Process to make gold nanoparticles (Colloidal Gold) is demonstrated using .999 fine gold wire, ordinary table salt, and sodium citrate. Buffered vitamin C can be used to substitute for the citrate is so desired. The process shown took 1.5 hours total and produced 500 ml of an estimated 30ppm CG. The power supply is rated at 30 volts at up to 1 ampere. Sodium Citrate is a common food additive. More info at cgcsforum.com
